82al-InfiṭārSplitting Asunderسُورَةُ الإنفطار

When the sky is split apart,

And when the stars are scattered,

And when the oceans burst outward,

And when the graves are thrown into dis- array —

Every living being will come to know what it has brought forth and what it left behind.

O social being! What was it that enticed you away from your Good Lord,

Who created you, gave you your [vital] proportions, and coordinated you,

In whichever image [and presentation] He [ultimately] decided to cast you?

No! You [responsible beings] are inclined to take issue with dīn [Allah’s organization of human and social matters].

Even though, behold, We have [assigned to you] angels who are taking notes [of all that you do]:

[They are] honorable and [they are] recording [your every act];

They know what you are doing.

Indeed, the very virtuous shall be in bliss,

Whereas, certainly, the very malicious shall be in the blazing pit of fire:

They will suffer its torment on the Day of Dīn,

Which they can never absent themselves from.

And how would you know what the Day of Dīn is?

Once again, how would you know what the Day of Dīn really is?

It will be the Day when no living being will carry the load [burden of sins] of another living being: for on that Day, the whole affair shall be determined by Allah [alone].
